The Cairns Region has Australia's Best Whitewater Rafting. And to add to that our controlled release rivers mean consistent year round water levels.

No-where else in the country can boast of having 3 rivers so perfect for rafting so close together. Within an hours drive from Cairns we have the Tully, Barron and Russell rivers, all offering commercial rafting opportunities. All Cairns rafting companies have fully trained river guides and supply top quality PFD's (lifejackets) which are specifically designed for white water conditions. You will need to bring your own shoes - which will get wet. (if you don't have any these can be supplied for a small charge on the day)

Half Day rafting trips are available on the Barron River - which is located an easy 10 minute drive from the centre of town. The Barron River is rated a Grade 2-3, which is perfect for first time rafters and those who may be a little bit unsure - yet still exciting enough to keep the thrillseekers happy. The Barron features controlled release water - so is available year round. The Tully River offers full day river rafting options. A day white water rafting on the Tully river offers more rafting, more rapids and more excitement due to the Grade 4 rapids on offer. The Tully also features controlled release water. This rafting day trip is still perfectly safe and suitable for beginners - just a bigger rush! A Full day trip on the Russell River features the exciting 2 man "sports rafts" and includes a bushwalk through the Wooroonooran National Park to your starting point. Not a trip for the couch potato! The Russell River features natural flow and is rated from Grades 1-4.
