The Mighty Tully River
This spectacular waterway lies in tropical Far North Queensland, around two hours south of Cairns. It begins 800 metres above sea level in the Great Dividing Range, before travelling for 133 kilometres to Tully Heads, where it meets the Coral Sea. Along the way, the Tully River meanders through some of Australia’s most beautiful and unspoilt scenery – from densely forested mountains to ancient rainforest to rolling paddocks. Much of this environment is inaccessible by road, which means the only way you can see it is from the water.
The Tully River is home to some of Queensland’s most exciting rapids. Paddlers come here from all over Australia to experience them. But, the good news is, you don’t have to be a white water expert to try them out. In fact, our Tully water rafting tours are open to paddlers of all levels – even beginners. Wherever you’re at, we’ll take you to a section of the river that’s fun, safe and appropriate for your skill set.
Half Day Sports Rafting Trips
If you are a bit unsure about your rafting trip, or you are a first-time rafter, you can go on a half day thrill on the Tully river. The half-day trip on the Tully can be undertaken any time of the year as water levels are controlled by daily water releases . The Tully river is rated grade 2-3 and could be the best place to take your first sports rafting Cairns trip and decide if you would want to try something wilder. Half day trips depart at 9.00am and 12.00 midday.
Full Day Sports Rafting Trips
On the Tully River, you can get an exciting full day of the best water rafting Cairns has to offer with Grade 3 rapids on offer. This means that you get more excitement, more of a challenge and more foaming rapids. Full day trips depart at 9.00am.
Coachable Creek Full Day Sports Rafting
The creek winds through magnificent 411 million year old untouched rainforests, landscaped by giant granite boulders, cliff overhangs, waterfalls and crystal clear mountain water. Half way along, we come to Wine Glass falls, where the creek flows into a waterfall to a deep green pool at the base of a gorge. Relax & chill out at the top of the falls, soaking in the awe inspiring scenery. Swim, play, laugh and on we go, cliff jump into the gorge (or walk to the base), followed by your raft, jump back in, paddle under the waterfall and the exhilarating ride continues.
This is an exceptional experience you won’t forget and exclusively wild in every way. Its weather dependent and has rapids upto Grade 4. Full day trips depart at 8.00am.
