Kuranda Village
Kuranda has come a long way from its initial origins as a centre for those choosing an alternative lifestyle in the late 60’s. Historic Buildings from the villages past now house a variety of upmarket restaurants, cafes and bars. It is still laid back, but with a style and sophistication that sets it apart from other Cairns Highlands Venues and Attractions.
Kuranda’s shops and markets with their exotically handcrafted goods, Aboriginal artifacts, restaurants and coffee shops make Kuranda a well known day destination, but to truly enjoy the ambience this village has to offer you really have to stay a few nights. Whether you are looking for a cosy bed and breakfast, a well maintained multi-choice accommodation and camping park, a hotel that when you step inside you feel like you are back in the 1920's, a gorgeous resort or a backpackers hostel, you'll find it in Kuranda.

This full day option is popular with families, time-short visitors and non-swimmers alike, however we're sure that pretty much anyone would enjoy this cruise. The island features beautiful white sandy beaches as well as large shaded boardwalk areas, so everyone should be able to find their own perfect place to relax and take in the sights of this tropical paradise.
Included in the basic cruise price is the choice of either a half hour glass bottom boat ride or the use of snorkelling gear whilst on the island. If you want both you can have choose both options (for a small fee) - you will have enough time to experience both options.
The snorkelling is perfect for kids and/or beginners, as you enter the water directly from the beach, not having to jump into deep water as with boat based reef cruises. There is lots of supervision on offer and buoyancy vests are available for poorer swimmers.

There are some great options available on this tour. If you're not planning on spending your whole time snorkelling we highly recommend you experience the Semi Submarine. It's a half hour mini-tour and while similar to the Glass Bottom Boat, it gives you a much better view of the fish and coral.
Basically with a glass bottom boat you are looking through the floor, while with the semi-submarine you are actually seated below the waters surface and looking out the windows. It's almost like a divers eye view without the hassle of all the gear.
Lunch
A tropical buffet lunch is served onboard in air conditioned comfort with options for everone including vegetarians. It's been designed to both reflect the Queensland tropical lifestyle, as well as to satisfy the taste buds of the different nationalities who visit Green Island.
A fully stocked bar is also available, with local beer, wines, juices as well as soft drinks for the kids. A selection of snacks is available from the bar as well as scoop ice cream.
If snorkelling, glass bottom boats or semi submarines aren't enough for you there is also the opportunity to try the Boat Snorkel Trip. With this option you'll be taken further out on the Green Island Reef on the dive boat to snorkel in deeper water. This options great for the more experienced snorkellers or stronger swimmers.
