Q. Who will be taking us on our Cairns fishing charter?
A. The owner, John. Unlike other fishing tours in Cairns, John does not employ drivers so you will be fishing with the person you talk to when booking, someone who has been fishing trinity inlet estuary for 16 years.
Q. Will my Cairns fishing trip go ahead if it is raining?
A. The only time we have ever cancelled a trip due to bad weather is when a cyclone has been bearing down on us. Trinity Inlet is a very large estuary and always offers protected fishing spots during bad weather. The boat has a large canopy plus we have raincoats on board, even if it is raining it is usually quite warm.
Q. How many anglers will there be on board for the fishing charter?
A. The maximum number of passengers fishing is 8. We run with a minimum of two people so it is luck of the draw.
Q. Can we bring our own drinks and food etc?
A. There is a large esky on board with plenty of ice so you can bring drinks, snacks a few beers etc. All fish you catch of legal size will be stored in a separate esky.
Q. Can we take our catch with us?
A. Any legal size fish can be kept and it will be cleaned, bagged and iced on board. There is a top quality restaurant at the pier that will gladly prepare your fish for lunch or dinner at reasonable prices.
Q. Can we bring our own tackle?
A. You are welcome to bring your own rod. The technique on our shared Cairns fishing charter is live baiting so you won’t be able to lure cast. If you do bring your own rod I ask that you spool up with mono as all the other boat rods have 15lb test mono line.
Q. Is the trip suitable for Ladies and youngsters?
A. It certainly is. Unlike most of the other Cairns fishing charter vessels, we have proper toilet facilities on board so the ladies need not worry.
Q. What species do you normally target.
A. When fishing Cairns Inlet we are always looking to hook the prized Barramundi. However, once you have a live bait on you can also catch Queenfish, Mangrove Jack, Fingermark, Giant Trevelly, Threadfin Salmon, Grunter and many more.
