Upolu Reef lies at the very edge of the outer Great Barrier Reef, now a protected world heritage site.
You can explore our private moorings with one of our friendly experienced guides who will provide a fun and informative tour of this uniquely divers marine environment.
With just under four hours at the reef we will visit two sites, allowing plenty of time to snorkel dive or just relax in the shade.
Upolo Sailing offers a small personalised trip taking a maximum of 20 people out to the Great Barrier Reef. Our destination is Upolu Reef which is a very beautiful location which lies at the very edge of the Outer Barrier Reef (now a protected World Heritage site) and is teeming with a large variety of interesting marine life and a beautiful array of corals. This offers our guests a perfect snorkelling or diving experience in warm clear protected waters. A snorkel guide is available at the first site which offers guests a fun, information and interactive introduction to their day's exploration.
We will visit two sites (weather permitting), allowing plenty of time to snorkel, scuba dive or just simply relax in the nets on the boat.
Our great strength is our personalised service due to the small numbers. Being owner operated means we take a daily active interest in the safety and well being of our customers and our trusted crew are considered a part of our family delivering enthusiastic, friendly hospitality to our guests. One of our instructors is both German and English speaking.
We include in our day trip:
Hands on sailing
Reef education talk that is both informative and fun
All snorkelling equipment
A guided snorkel tour
Nets for a fun ride
Extra help and instruction for beginners
Tropical smorgasbord lunch which consists of chicken, a selection of cold meats, 3 different salads, ie, pasta, rice, coleslaw or potato salad and fresh bread
Afternoon tea is fresh fruit, cheese and biscuits and wine.
It takes approximately 2 ¼ hrs to sail each way and is a very relaxed, friendly and chilled out kind of day.
Small Groups means a more personalised day!
As they take such a limited number of divers, (4 in the morning, 4 in the afternoon) they really offer that personalised service, helping the guests until they are comfortable rather that watching the clock. We do not time our dives at all, if the customer is breathing really comfortably and is happy the dive can last anything from 15 minutes – 45 minutes !!!
So we are not only great for helping people with snorkelling (we take them to the back of the boat, give them a
noodle, teach them how to snorkel and send them with the guide) but also for 1st time intro divers plus for more experienced intro divers we do not make them link arms !
