Green Island is a fully developed coral cay situated only 26 kilometres from Cairns on the Great Barrier Reef. Its protected waters are the perfect location to discover the reef either by snorkeling or scuba diving. We sail to Pinnacle Reef, an exclusive mooring on the eastern side of Green Island offering excellent coral coverage and vibrant marine life.
This yacht is surveyed to carry 52 passengers, but limits its daily guests to just 25 ensuring a truly personalised and unforgettable Great Barrier Reef experience, with maximum comfort and space. You may even want to try your first ever scuba dive, or for the certified diver, enjoy being guided by our qualified instructors on one of the best kept secrets of the Great Barrier Reef.
Your day commences with check-in at our desk inside Cairns' Reef Fleet Terminal from 7.15am, with boarding at 7.30 for an 8am departure. Enjoy fresh tea, coffee, fruit and danishes served on board.
After leaving the dock you can assist with the hoisting of the sails and after an introductory safety brief - you can just kick back and enjoy the motor sail to Green Island on the Great Barrier Reef. For those of you wishing to scuba dive the paperwork and briefs are completed during the journey out, so when we arrive at The Great Barrier Reef you are ready to dive!
Once sails are dropped we meander through the reef to our private mooring at Pinnacle Reef with Green Island just 700m away — all you’ve ever dreamed of in a tropical paradise! The boat is greeted by schools of spangled emperors, yellow tailed fusiliers, parrot fish and giant trevally. Once briefed on the in-water activities – your adventures begin!! Follow our crew on a personalised, guided tour of the reef whilst they offer information on the marine life below and guide you to our favourite spots of this reef. Try to find our resident turtle “Frankie”, or everyone’s favourite fish “Nemo”. For those feeling brave, we often have the opportunity to snorkel with some friendly black-tipped reef sharks too!
Following the morning's snorkeling and scuba diving you feast on a delicious smorgasbord lunch. After lunch, transfers to the island begin – look out for turtles on the way! Green Island is the oldest coral island on The Great Barrier Reef and is covered in a beautiful, tropical rainforest. You can sip cocktails at the bar, visit the world’s largest crocodile in captivity at marineland Melanesia, or sign up for a glass bottomed or semi-submersible boat tour.
After leaving the reef, you can again assist the crew with the hoisting of the sails and even take the helm as we switch off the motor (weather permitting) and have a beautiful sail back to port, whilst you relax and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine.
Our best asset is our very warm and friendly crew. Let them spoil you whilst you enjoy the most relaxing day trip to The Great Barrier Reef.
