Commonly asked questions.

Certified divers can complete up to three guided dives, with one dive at each of the three Outer Great Barrier Reef sites visited during the day.

Silversonic departs from Port Douglas Marina. Check-in is at the Quicksilver Cruises office inside the marina between approximately 7:30am and 8:00am.

Silversonic has access to more than 35 exclusive Agincourt Ribbon Reef sites. The three sites visited are selected on the day according to weather, visibility, tides and other conditions.

Yes. All dives aboard Silversonic are guided by experienced PADI-certified dive instructors, including certified-diver dives.

You need an internationally recognised scuba certification to participate as a certified diver. You must also bring proof of certification with you. Introductory diving is available separately for people without previous certification.

Yes. No previous experience is required for an introductory dive, which is conducted under close supervision from a dive instructor. Introductory divers can do up to two dives during the day, subject to the dive plan and conditions.

The minimum age for scuba diving is 12 years. Medical and safety requirements also apply.

Yes. Dive equipment is provided, including wetsuits and the required scuba equipment. Lycra suits are also provided.

Yes. The crew can provide a refresher or orientation briefing where appropriate, and the first dive can be used to familiarise divers with the equipment, conditions and dive procedures. Divers should disclose relevant experience when booking.

Some medical conditions and medications may prevent you from scuba diving or require medical clearance. All divers must meet the operator's dive safety requirements and complete the required medical declaration.

Yes. Morning tea, a hot and cold tropical buffet lunch and afternoon tea are included.

Silverseries recommends waiting at least 12 hours, and preferably 24 hours after multiple dives, before ascending to an altitude of 500 metres or greater

  • 8:30am - Depart Port Douglas for the Outer Great Barrier Reef
  • 10:15am - Arrive at first Agincourt Reef site and first dive/snorkel
  • 11:30am - Travel to second reef site and second dive/snorkel
  • 12:00pm - Tropical buffet lunch
  • 1:40pm - Travel to third reef site and third dive/snorkel
  • 2:30pm - Afternoon tea
  • 3:00pm - Depart the reef for Port Douglas
  • 4:30pm - Arrive at Port Douglas Marina
