We use inflatable boards which are very stable and great for beginners. Sttanding up is quite easy and most get the hang of it very quickly, however there are no rules against sitting or kneeling on the board so free to paddle however you like.

Stand Up Paddleboarding is very easy on the body, it places much less strain on the arms and shoulders than kayaking or other forms of paddling, but it is still a great low impact workout thats especially good for strengthening your core.
