Fitzroy Island is a tropical paradise of rainforest and coral beaches within the calm sheltered waters
of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Located only 29 km off the coast of Cairns, the island is a
listed National Park and has only one resort.

The affordable 4 Star Resort offers a range of luxurious accommodation (99 rooms) including Suites, Beach Cabins and Studios. Resort facilities include a contemporary restaurant, large pool with swimup bar, dive store, indoor cinema, Foxy’s Bar and a general store.

Fitzroy Island is a 45 minute ferry ride (about 30kms) from Cairns in Queensland, and is surrounded by a reef system that forms part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, making it the perfect accessible base for snorkelling, diving and exploring the reef. Idyllic white sandy beaches lead into the safe, sheltered waters, which are also ideal for swimming and water sports as well as yachting and boating.

Room Types

Resort Studio : Private air-conditioned rooms with contemporary appointments featuring:
plasma TV, black marble ensuite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge. Choice
of a Queen Bed or 2 King Single Beds. Sleeps two guests.

Ocean Suite : These luxuriously appointed 1 bedroom suites boast a generous balcony and
beautiful views across Welcome Bay and the Coral Sea. Lounge and dining area features: modern
kitchenette (microwave, toaster, electric kettle, dishwasher & large fridge), leather furnishings,
plasma TV and black marble bathroom. Separate bedroom with Queen Bed offers stunning views of
the bay. Sleeps up to four guests (with extra 2 persons sleeping on a sofa bed).

2 Bedroom Ocean Suite : Consists of an Ocean Suite and a Resort Studio with a shared entrance room. Sleeps four to six guests.

 

Fitzroy Island Camping

The Fitzroy Island campground has great facilities and accommodation for 28 tent sites, on a pleasant grassed area with beach frontage, surrounded by rain forest. Ice and other daily essentials are available from the Pacific Islands Trading Store and meals are available from Foxy's Bar and Cafe. Activities include exploration of the 294 hectare national park island with its historic lighthouse and World War II relics, plus the island's surrounding fringe coral reef. Did we mention the amazing beaches?

The Fitzroy island Campground has just recently reopened, and we're glad it's back. Camping on Fitzroy Island has long been a Cairns Favourite.
