Things to Do in February.
It's still the "wet" season or "monsoon" season in north Queensland in February, but don't let that stop you coming. Most of our February rain is overnight or in the evenings, leaving you free to enjoy such world famous attractions such as the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage Rainforests. An always popular option is "Green Island & the Reef", with a visit to both Green Island and an outer reef pontoon included in your cruise. No visit to Cairns would be complete without experiencing the "Kuranda Train & Skyrail", especially at this time of year when the mighty Barron Falls will surely be at their best.
For the more adventurous you may want to try some "quad biking", it's as wild and dirty as you want it to be! Another great half day February option is "whitewater rafting" on the Barron River, it's a bit tamer than the Tully, but can really come alive in the wet season.
What is the Weather like in Cairns in February?
Whilst February is included in Cairns "wet" or "green" season the monsoon trough generally stays north of Cairns for most of February. This means that while it may rain it hopefully won't rain too much. Typically February rains tend to fall in the evenings and overnight. This rain will make sure the rainforest is at it's luscious green best and also make sure all the waterfalls are flowing well.
